11 August @ 2:00 pm—Is there anything out there that can slow down an OLDSMOBILE?! I can’t think of anything—-except for maybe Mother Nature. She threw us her best fastball, but we were able to knock it out of the park. With temperatures nearing 100 degrees, we set out on our journey. Our goal was to keep our cars moving and not get stuck in traffic. We started off 14.4 miles North on Blanco Road towards “Bergheim’s General Store”. Some of our members who get more MPH than MPG stopped at the Valero to top off their tanks and then joined us 1/4 mile down the road (too scared to unload it). This stop was well planned as some of us had time to give “our” rides a breath of fresh air. We left the store and headed towards the Guadalupe State Park. Our first sign we were getting close to water was the field of goats to the left. OK that was not fair! We took our convoy of Autos to Edge Falls, what an AWESOME site-parking was tight, but we managed. Anyone see Miller? We left the falls without anyone getting wet, even though a few of us were tempted. We continued our journey and made another stop or two along the way and we ended up at Specht’s Diner. We had a great time sharing the food and atmosphere. Thanks to Keith Sauls for his expert planning, we had a GREAT time and cannot wait for the next trip.
